Official Genesee County Contacts and Next Steps
For a Sheriff-held report, booking record, or releasable photograph, contact the Genesee County Sheriff's Office Records Division: 165 Park Road, Batavia, NY 14020; 585-345-3000, extension 3560; fax 585-345-3089; sheriff.civil@geneseeny.gov. The Sheriff form asks for a reasonably specific description, such as a name, date, agency, title, or file identifier. The published records page lists other reports at $5 for up to two pages and $0.25 per additional page, FOIL copies at $0.25 per page, and a Photo CD at $30. It says the requester is contacted after review in about five business days. The material reviewed for this guide does not list Records Division public hours, so call before visiting.
For a current-custody question, use the Genesee County Jail at 3839 West Main Street Road, Batavia, NY 14020, 585-343-0838. That is the newer jail location, not the former 14 West Main Street facility. Use 911 for an emergency. The Sheriff dispatch and non-emergency line is 585-343-5000.
- For a booking record or the official request process, start with the home guide and the Sheriff's Records Division.
- For a warrant concern, use Wanted Fugitives to identify the appropriate official check rather than relying on an informal list.
- For reported local arrests, read Arrest News as context only. A news item does not confirm present custody or a court result.
- For a city or town agency path, use the City of Batavia, Town of Le Roy, or Town of Batavia page linked below, then contact the agency named in the incident.
- For a state-prison custody record, use the official NYS DOCCS incarcerated-individual lookup.
- For a federal or immigration detainee, use the appropriate official Federal Bureau of Prisons locator or ICE Online Detainee Locator.
